About this hotel
La Bouitte is a family-run hotel and restaurant in the hamlet of Saint Marcel, at 1,500 m above Saint-Martin-de-Belleville in the Savoie Alps, on the edge of the Trois Vallées ski area. René and Marie-Louise Meilleur opened it in 1976 on a former potato field, and the family has largely built the house by hand since, in old timber, slate and stone. Their son Maxime joined the kitchen in 1996; in 2025 a third generation, his sons Oscar and Calixte, followed. The hotel holds fifteen rooms and suites, each furnished with antique Savoyard pieces and textiles from the Arpin mill. It has been a Relais & Châteaux member since 2016, five-star since 2017 and holds a Michelin Key. The restaurant René & Maxime Meilleur, with two Michelin stars, cooks from Savoyard terroir - trout from the family's own farm, herbs and berries gathered daily, bread, butter and crozets made in-house. The spa La Bèla Vya offers a lake-shaped pool, a spruce sauna, a citrus hammam, an outdoor jacuzzi and treatments built on local ingredients such as hay steam baths. The family also runs two separate ventures nearby: the village bistro Simple & Meilleur and the high-altitude restaurant Le Bouche à Oreille at 2,700 m.
